Seasonal Programs:
- Health and Wellness Fair - Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital, 4400 Long Prairie Rd., Flower Mound, TX will be offering free health screenings and wellness booths from 10:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 27. Complimentary chair massages, lite bites, door prizes and more. Call 1-877-THR-WELL to RSVP.
- DHA is accepting preliminary applications for the housing voucher program. Residents of Collin, Dallas, Denton, Ellis, Kaufman, Rockwall and Tarrant counties may click the link to view requirements and apply online.
- *Lake Cities Community Food Pantry - FREE food for those that reside in Corinth, Hickory Creek, Little Elm or Shady Shores (must bring proof of residency and photo ID). First Saturday of each month from 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. Located at 300 E. Hundley Drive, Lake Dallas, TX 75065.
- *Denton County Cowboy Church offers a food pantry the 2nd and 4th Thursday of each month from 3:30-5:00 p.m. It is located at 400 Robinson Rd., Ponder, TX
- Car Seat Assistance - Denton County Public Health’s Safe Riders Program Registration
The Safe Riders program distributes and educates on proper child safety seat use. Families who meet eligibility criteria and attend the course will receive a car seat. Families are required to self-certify financial need, have a vehicle with a working safety belt, and attend a one-hour class to learn how to use the car seat correctly. Expectant mothers should be in their last trimester. Car seat classes are held monthly. The classes are being offered as per the times posted on the registration links below. You must attend a class to receive a car seat. Car seats available for infants, toddlers, and child booster seats. Car seat distribution and pick-up will be arranged after successful completion of the class. To register: (Spanish) SafeRiders Class Registration (smartsheet.com). If you live in another Texas county: If you need a car seat, please contact Safe Riders at [email protected] or 1-800-252-8255. Safe Riders responds to messages in the order in which they are received. Please allow two-to-three business days for a response to your message. NOTE: If the registration is full, please submit an application, you will be added to the wait list!
- Denton Kiwanis Children's Clinic - (northern Denton County only). Provides low-cost or no cost medical, dental, or prescription care for underprivileged children. - FEMA Disaster Assistance -FEMA is now accepting applications for funeral expenses paid after January 20, 2020 for deaths caused by COVID-19. We are only accepting applications by phone. Online applications are not accepted. You may visit COVID-19 Funeral Assistance for information about the program which will remain in effect until September 30, 2025. After you read this information and gather the necessary documents, call 1-844-684-6333 (TTY 1-800-462-7585) to apply for this assistance. Call this number also for help with ALL other questions or concerns about COVID-19 Funeral Assistance.The phone line is open Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. ET.
- Food Bank - *Asbury Relief Ministry (ARM) 117 Hercules Ln., Denton, TX 76207. Phone: 940-387-6487 Open to anyone living in north Texas for emergency food assistance. Open on Mondays at various times. Check website for updates on dates and hours of operation.
- *FREE Clothing Closet (Love Thy Neighbor)- Saturday, May 4, 2024 from 9:00 am-11:00 am. New Beginnings Church, 1569 Main Street, Lewisville, TX 75067. Photo ID is required for the Clothing Closet. First Come, First Serve. Number of families will be limited.
- *GivingGrace - Serves individuals and families with children in Denton County who are currently homeless or at risk of becoming homeless. Services may include homeless prevention, rapid re-housing and relief including emergency and transitional shelter (as space is available), rent & utility assistance, life skills programs, childcare support, and case management. - *Hope Center - Cross Timbers Community Church: Benevolence Request for Assistance - May provide assistance with rent, mortgage or utilities for Cross Timbers Family members, residents of City of Denton or Town of Argyle only. Click on the Benevolence link to determine eligibility and complete an online application. FEED the CITY is offered 2nd and 4th Sunday at 3:00 pm and features FREE hot meals, pantry items, and produce on a first come, first served basis at 312 W. McKinney St., Denton, TX.

- North Texas Food Bank - Speak to a Social Service Assistance staff member about food resources and benefits for low-income families or fill out the contact form available online. - Nurse-Family Partnership - First time, pregnant moms (28 weeks or less) that live in qualifying service areas (Denton County is included) and meet eligibility requirements can receive FREE support, information, and advice from a personal nurse. - *Our Daily Bread (together with Monsignor King Outreach Center)
Community service organization that offers food, counseling, transportation, wellness, employment, and supportive services for adults in Denton County who are homeless or at risk. Serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner every day. NEW location is 909 N. Loop 288, Denton, TX 76209 - PediPlace - PediPlace is a non-profit pediatric healthcare practice for children from birth through eighteen years of age who are uninsured or who qualify for Medicaid or CHIP (Children’s Health Insurance Program) benefits. A variety of medical services are offered including patient care for acute and chronic conditions, preventative care, mental health needs, and well-baby checks. Two locations: Lewisville - 502 S. Old Orchard, #126, Lewisville AND Denton - 815 Cross Timber St., Denton (inside Fred Moore High School).
- Pet Food - Emergency Pantry - Linda McNatt Animal Care and Adoption Center, 3717 N. Elm St., Denton, TX has FREE pet food available to pet owners with urgent need. - *Project Hope (Denton) - Mt. Calvary Baptist Church operates the Project Hope Family Enrichment Center, 1111 Wilson Street, Denton for Denton county residents. A variety of free services such as: Hands of Hope Food Pantry (every Tuesday & first Saturday of the month), Hope Kitchen (free meals every Wednesday from 11:30 am-1:00 pm), Hope Lifeline (GED program, after school care & youth services), Hope Care Medical Clinic (monthly free clinic for patients with no insurance the 3rd Saturday of every month), and Hope Technology Lab (public use computers) are provided. - Tarrant Area Food Bank - Call the Food Hotline at 817-534-0814 to find food resources in the North Texas area. View the mobile food pantry list to see where regularly scheduled mobile food distributions are taking place in North Texas.
- Texoma Council of Governments - Energy Assistance: Residents of Denton County who meet income eligibility requirements may qualify for utility assistance that includes the co-payment of utilities for a specific period of time while learning ways to conserve energy. Services also include a case management program with the goal of transitioning families off welfare by providing assistance with the cost of expenses such as education, training and other necessary supplies and supportive services.
- Texas Utility Help - This program provides eligible Texas homeowners and renters with financial payments made directly to the utility company on the household’s behalf.. - Your Texas Benefits -Medicaid recipients please note the following information from the website: "Continuous Medicaid coverage has ended. To ensure coverage continues if you're eligible, respond to renewal notices, report changes (contact information, pregnancy, etc.) as soon as possible. Log into your account or call 2-1-1 and select Option 2." Check the website regularly for other information related to government benefits.
